Roomba is a series of autonomous robotic vacuum cleaners sold by iRobot. Introduced in September 2002, Roomba features a set of sensors that enable it to navigate the floor area of a home and clean it. For instance, Roomba's sensors can detect the presence of obstacles, detect dirty spots on the floor, and sense steep drops to keep it from falling down stairs. Roomba uses two independently operating side wheels, that allow 360° turns in place. A rotating, 3-pronged spinner brush can sweep debris from square corners to the cleaning head.
The Roomba units have a range of model sizes with the 400 to 900 series, which provide several different features, such as tangle-free brushes, separate sweep canister, a more powerful vacuum, obstacle avoidance, or performance maps displayed via a smartphone app. However, some parts of the Roomba models are interchangeable between related models, allowing a mix/match of features, or switching into other units for longer battery operation. It’s a year since we bought the iRobot 606 (April 2018). We have natural tandur stone tiles and carpets on the floor. I chose the 606 on the advice of the iRobot office in Bangalore who said this model was more suited to irregular surfaces like natural stone floors. It’s always helpful to talk with them and send them a pic of your floor and clear any doubts before you purchase one , even if you are ordering through Amazon, like I did.
I run it every morning and it meanders through the house for around 2 1/2 hours or longer till its battery runs out, while we go about our own work. It may seem random in its pattern of movement but it eventually covers the entire space and our floors and carpets are always clean. I seriously think it does a better job than sweeping, the fine dust that it collects would normally be raised by a broom and settle on surfaces. I rarely need to mop at all, just spills which we clean up right away. Under the beds is always fluff free now and places it can’t go, I clean occasionally. It has made our lives that much simpler.
I empty the dust container daily and clean the dust filter, brush and other accessories once a week. I’ve found it easier to have an extra set of generic accessories, which you can buy at far less cost on Amazon, so even when I’m lazy to clean them, I have a set of clean accessories at hand. I would recommend the iRobot for everyone who prefers not to have a maid and manage their home themselves.
After having a favorable experience with Roomba for years in the USA, I purchased this product for my parents home in India. Running the Roomba for the first two months was no problem. Then there was a bad power surge. It damaged the home base, and the battery started showing zero power. My parents decided to take it to a local repair shop. Had the home base repaired which cost around Rs. 1500. Also purchased a step down voltage converter to convert 220 V to 110 V AC as recommended by the repair technician. (The home base is stated to accept 100 V to 240 Volts). Also had to have the battery replaced which cost another Rs. 3800. The battery charged fully and Roomba ran fine once after that. But following that, after docking for recharging, the battery discharged completely probably because roomba did not dock properly. Now I am waiting to see if it recharges as it should or there is some other problem. Since Roomba 606 goes into power saver mode, it is not easy to tell if Roomba is properly docked and charging. I wish the manufacturers would make them where the user would have the option of using a power saver mode or non power saver mode. Bottom line is make sure that you purchase a good surge protector for your Roomba, and in my opinion also buy a step down converter to step the voltage down to 110 V. to protect it for high voltage. It would undoubtedly be a small extra expense but will help protect your small investment. Lastly, when not using Roomba for extended periods, remember to charge the battery fully and then remove the battery and store it in a safe, cool, dry place.

I bought the 960 couple of weeks back , the package arrived in good condition and on time . The product is very simple to set up and equally easy to use .
We have a maid at home and even after she cleans , roomba still collects lot more dust from the floor . It’s amazing how well it does the job .
I have a duplex apartment with each floor being 1400 sqft. Roomba 960 manages to clean the downstairs floor where it is kept in one go without having to recharge . It finds it’s way to the base without any trouble most of the time even if you lift it up and keep it elsewhere ;)
I haven’t done any maintenance yet but going by the guide it should be very easy . Overall an awesome product well worth every penny
Update :
1) Its now 4 months since I started using Roomba. It still works with absolutely no issues.
2) The app alerts you when the bin is full or if it gets stuck.
3) The best part is, it learns !. The time it takes to complete a cleaning job has improved over time, so i believe it has some kind of a map memory which gathers data and then uses it the next time you use it.
4) Every month, i do a routine maintenance of the device. Its very easy and the app guides you through each step.

While in action we can see it smartly getting back to the point where it had left or got diverted from . ultimately covers the room through furniture and then identifies furniture legs and goes around once for each leg and lastly goes along the walls of the room. It is definitely helpful for moms who clean the house even after a tired day cause they just can’t stand dusty floors
